Adventure Day Camp Hiking Adventure Week Teaches Outdoor Skills and Leave No Trace

Keystone Science School’s Adventure Day Camps (ages 7-10) are an activity-specific day camp offering campers with a unique experience going in depth within a specific outdoor skill. Due to the nature of the curriculum, campers sign-up for the entire week giving them the opportunity to create stronger friendships with the same campers they’ll be adventuring with all week long.

The Hiking Adventure week, June 17th-21st, teaches campers all of the fundamentals of hiking and backcountry travel. Campers will learn about setting up backcountry kitchens, the necessity and skills of water filtration, hanging bear bags, and map and compass skills. Campers will also have the opportunity to summit a 13er and visit pristine alpine lakes.

One day will also be spent learning about everything that goes into our extensive trail system in Summit County by completing a trail project with the Friends of Dillon Ranger District.

Woven into each day, will be lessons of Leave No Trace. Campers will learn about each of the 7 principles of Leave No Trace and practice each of the lessons throughout each of their days hiking and adventuring. After this program, each camper will have the skills to hike and adventure with confidence whether on their next family outing or traveling with friends.
