Why Legacy Camp
For ages: 5-18
Designed for children dealing with the loss of a family member, Legacy Camp was created to instill pride, strength, and power through the concept of legacy. With intentional, purposeful programming, we work to provide these children with a sense of community, empowerment, and fun. Thanks to funding from generous donors, we are pleased to offer this program free of charge.
- The program is fully funded which means there is no charge for participation.
- Licensed therapists participate in every program
- Every child is paired with an adult volunteer (buddy)
- Activities range from camping, hiking, tubing, cross-country skiing and many more activities
If you are interested in registering for Legacy Camp or know someone who is dealing with loss, please contact Seth Oglesby.
"We like those special moments that changes our lives for a moment.” - Legacy Parent

Legacy Camp Upcoming Programs
Legacy Camp is a year-round program. Each Legacy Year begins in November and is made up of two camper-only retreats as well as two camper and family events. The program is designed to give children and their families time and space to process, connect, and grow together. Below is the schedule for the 2017-18 program year.
Fall Retreat (Camper-Only)
This three-day retreat provides an opportunity to reflect on the year and the challenges and successes that came with it. It is also a chance to give our Legacy parents a break and an opportunity to take some time for themselves. This year we will be camping in Buena Vista, CO and soaking in Princeton Hot Springs!
November Retreat (Camper-Only)
Campers and "buddies" come together at Keystone Science School for a wonderful weekend of community-building and outdoor fun. The goal of this program is to give our campers a break from their everyday life. The program begins on Friday night with dinner and a fun campfire and we will spend the night on campus. Campers will also meet their volunteer buddies and the therapy team. On Saturday we will go on a Dedication Hike, where the campers have the opportunity to dedicate their hike to a loved one or a hero in their lives. Saturday night includes a movie and a debrief with the therapy team. Throughout the weekend, campers will have time to start their Legacy Journals.
Winter Family Dinner
When: January 20, 2018
The Holidays can be a difficult time for families dealing with loss. The Winter Family Dinner is designed to bring parents, guardians, and siblings together with other families to play games, make friends, and enjoy a delicious meal together.
Spring Family Fun Day
When: March 25, 2018
We invite campers and their families to join us for this fun-filled day. The activity varies depending on the weather, but lunch will be provided. The objective of this program is to give relief to the families and provide them an opportunity to have fun and enjoy being with one another. Our Therapy team provides opportunities for campers and parents to talk about what is going on in their lives.
