KSS is hiring Lead Program Instructors to join our team! This role begins in January and runs through mid-November. Join KSS and experience all of the seasons as an Instructor. Lead Program Instructors will be team leaders and facilitate overnight outdoor education field trips during the school year and overnight camp and adventure programs in the summer.
School Year Duties
The Lead Program Instructor is responsible for teaching the wide variety of curricula options offered by KSS during the school year. Lead Program Instructors will lead groups of up to 13 students in outdoor education programs including environmental science and community building curriculum. Lead Program Instructors are responsible for lesson planning and organizing curriculum for each program. They are also responsible for the facilitation of meals, evening programs, and the completion of manual labor tasks on a rotating basis. Lead Program Instructors will be the main point of contact for schools during their program. Schedule is 5 days per week and includes some nights and weekends.
Summer Adventure Duties
During the summer time Lead Program Instructors may facilitate KSS summer camps including day and overnight programs on the Keystone Science School campus and at satellite locations around Summit County. Lead Program Instructors may also lead adventure programming with a focus on backcountry travel and high adventure activities. Programs are age-specific, full-week program sessions offering education, adventure and recreational activities based upon weekly science and adventure themes. Campers in all programs range from entering Kindergarten through 12th grade. Schedule is 6 days per week including nights and weekends.
This position pays $524 per week or $576 if you are fluent in Spanish. Housing and food are provided for free!
COVID 19 Vaccine Policy
Keystone Science school has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy. Employees are expected to be partially vaccinated by October 20, 2021 and fully vaccinated by December 10, 2021. Individuals hired after January 1, 2022 are required to be either fully vaccinated or partially vaccinated before their start dates.
