Girls in STEM Fire & First Responders
Feb 19-21, 2027
For 4th-8th grade girls
Firefighters play a highly specialized role in every town and city across the country, serving as first responders to both medical and fire emergencies. During this program, participants will learn about common medical emergencies and how firefighters are trained and equipped for rapid care. To experience a day in the life of this crucial role, participants will visit the High Country Training Center, where they will observe a variety of fire and medical response demonstrations! They will also have the opportunity to see emergency vehicles up close and learn how they are designed to support life-saving work. Throughout the weekend, participants will meet female professionals in the world of fire and hear about their experience working in a male-dominated industry.
Rates & Amenities
This program is subsidized on a sliding fee scale for local families – see the chart below. This price includes lodging in our dorms, all meals, programming and use of supplies and technology.

Scholarships & Financial Assistance
If you have a financial barrier, please apply for a scholarship for the Girls in STEM program. All scholarships will be determined on a rolling basis and offered based on financial need.
Transportation
We offer free transportation to local students at Dillon Valley Elementary and Silverthorne Elementary!
- KSS pickup students from school on Friday afternoon from Silverthorne Elementary and Dillon Valley Elementary at 4:00pm.
- Parent Pickup at KSS on Sunday at 12:00pm or Silverthorne Elementary and Dillon Valley Elementary at 1:00pm.
