Girls in STEM: Interstate Engineering
April 9-11, 2027
For 4-8th grade female and non-binary students
Many of us travel on I-70 to get to KSS, but have you ever wondered what it takes to keep the road maintained and safe year round? In this program, participants will explore the behind-the-scenes work of CDOT’s maintenance team. We’ll dive into careers that focus on engineering, chemistry, logistics, and data-driven decisions to keep 144 miles of high-altitude highway safe. Participants will take a tour of the Silverthorne CDOT Maintenance Facility, climbing into snowplows and learning how de-icers are designed to be eco-friendly. Throughout the weekend, participants will meet female professionals in the world of transportation and hear about their experience working in a male-dominated industry.
