For Campers Entering Grades 6th-8th
KSS Campus & Offsite
Specifically designed for Middle School aged campers, Keystone Science School is offering an adventure-focused day option. Campers will travel around Summit County and surrounding areas to enjoy outdoor recreational opportunities. Each week will follow an adventure theme. Campers in Pathfinder sessions will gain valuable leadership skills. Each session will include team-building and leadership activities that will encourage collaboration, responsibility, and problem-solving.
Session Dates & Themes

Explore and learn the basics of rock climbing while participating in lessons focused on geology. Incorporated lessons will focus on climbing safety, technical knowledge, and geology.
Possible activities for this theme include paddleboarding, kayaking, and fly-fishing. Learn about water ecology, management, and water safety while exploring local rivers and lakes.
Activities include horseback riding and a visit to a local horse ranch where leadership skills will be emphasized. Incorporated lessons will focus on equine anatomy and physiology.
Develop a variety of traditional summer camp skills, including fishing, biking, arts and crafts, and more.
Earth Trek Day
Spend the day out on local trails exploring the science theme, enjoying a picnic, and challenging yourself on a hike.
Celebrate the theme with culminating activities that tie the week together.
Service Learning Project
Each session includes a service project with a community partner. The purpose of this project is to be active stewards of our environment and community and learn about what it takes to live and play safely in the mountains.

All Day Camp staff go through 2 weeks of comprehensive training, have been background checked, hold a Wilderness First Aid/CPR/AED certification at minimum, and have gone through extensive risk management training.
