Girls in STEM: Wildlife Crossings

October 17-19

We are excited to launch a new theme, Girls in STEM Wildlife Crossings! Over the course of the weekend, participants will explore how different careers collaborate to research and design wildlife crossings. They will meet birds of prey, visit a wildlife overpass, and learn how to use motion activated cameras to study wildlife. To wrap up the weekend, participants will collaborate with a team to design their own wildlife overpass.

Harvest Day Camp

October 24-31

Offered during fall break, Harvest Camp provides both day and overnight options for grades K-8, with sliding scale discounted pricing for Summit County School District students based on financial need.

This camp is a chance for both new and returning campers to experience the wonders of autumn at KSS, celebrating the Halloween and Día de los Muertos seasons. Campers will explore the natural changes of fall, studying flora and fauna in transition, while engaging in hands-on activities that spark curiosity about the world around them. Harvest Camp is an excellent opportunity for children to build independence, foster a love of nature, and enjoy a safe, fun environment with new friends.

Beyond the Classroom is a 3-day professional development workshop for 4th-12th grade teachers and informal educators. Teachers will receive curriculum and training to explore local and regional issues using KSS’s non-biased framework, along with a complete set of lesson plans to facilitate an issues-based curriculum in their classroom.

Outdoor Education Field Trips

All Year Long

KSS is proud to provide schools with unique overnight field trips that combine Science, Adventure, and Fun! Each outdoor education and environmental education field trip we create is tailored to the goals of each participating school. Located in a high mountain environment outside Denver, our classroom is the forest, streams, and alpine tundra where students can be outside and adventuring.
